Wyke Emerging 8’s Match Report

Wyke emerging 8's entertained Odsal Sedbergh on Sunday, narrowly losing by 32 points 12 in an action packed game.

Sedbergh started well taking an early lead scoring two tries in quick succession, Wyke then tightened their defence up and hit back with exceptional tackling from Top tackler Sienna McPherson, Man of the Match Thomas Ockerby and Aidan law.

Scoring a tremendous try in the corner in the first half, Joseph Fynn helped raise Wyke's morale, but despite this Sedbergh managed to thwart Wyke's strong defence and break through to score a further three tries before the half time break.

After a tactical team talk at half time Wyke returned to the pitch with high hopes of more tries. They did not disappoint. Wyke set the platform for their next try with strong driving from Reece Broadbent, Sam Robinson and Jake Rayner with Riley Firth off loading to Jack Barraclough who managed to score under the sticks.

Sedbergh responded with a further three unwelcome tries. But Wyke a team not to be downhearted fought back with all they had left, showing their worth with strong running and quick passing from Harry Owen, Stuart Nicholson and Aston Petyt. This enabled Jack Barraclough to forge forward to land his second try of the match to much applause from the touchline.
