Hunslet at home.

Wyke under 8's entertained Hunslet warriors on a very misty morning in Wyke park. These teams had met on a lot of occasions over the past season, so the boys already had thier mind on who they needed to keep in control of.

The Wyke boys started very well, with thier first set turning into a try, quickly followed in succession by another 2 tries. This really put the wind up the boys and girls from Hunslet, which was evident by the frustrations coming out in the tackles made.

Wyke seemed to take thier foot off the gas a bit then and there quick little player who we have come across a couple of times managed to sneak through, much to the annoyance of the boys.

But that doesn't s the only way they could get through. As the tackling from Wyke was immense and nothing was getting through the middle. This was evident in the tackle count, with Logan Metcalfe, Bailey , Andrew Parkin and Alfie Barraclough all getting into double figures.

Even though Wyke let a couple of tries in, it didn't stop them moving forward with some strong running from Charlie McShera and Aidan Cartwright and Toby Briggs, all managing to break through and cause some damage to the score.

A much improved performance from Lucas Range- Bennett and a cheeky little try from our new recruit Josh Keegan made our try count 6. But with our boys tiring off at the end they were just pipped to the win.

It always is a competitive and strong game when these two teams meet and it was a great game of junior rugby. Wyke hope to build on this performance in the pre match festival before the million pound game at Wakefield this weekend.
