Hunslet away

Wyke took their largest squad of the year over to Hunslet to play thier under 8's. There were a few boys making their debuts for the black and whites and were really up for the challenge.

Hunslet are a team that Wyke had played previously and they have a couple of good runners that soon showed thier worth with some fantastic runs down the wings. The game was split into 4 quarter to help Wyke to be able to use thier full squad. The first 2 quarters is where Hunslet broke through, always down the wing though as Wykes defence was strong in the middle of the park.

Some strong running by Logan metcalfe and Charlie McShera who had a try not given which was a dubious decision to say the least. And some tackling by the consistent Andrew Parkin and Aidan Cartwright helped keep them at bay in the 3rd quarter. Finlay Abrahams managed to perform 2try saving tackles in continuous sets.

This boosted the boys confidence and it showed with our new recruit ollie firth managing to get through for his first try of the season.

The score line didn't reflect how much effort the boys put in to the defensive display. As every boy ended up on the tackle count.

Even the new boys got stuck in and wernt scared of the opposition even though there at times was a big difference in ability and size.

Wyke want to continue this strong defence and squad by taking on Drighlington next week.
