Fun in the sun

The sun was out the park was full and the under 8's were up for a good game of rugby.

Queensbury brought a strong and full team, but that didn't stop Wyke attacking first with some good runs from Mark Gummery and Josh Blowes. Queensbury were keen to show us their skills, but some good defence form Andrew Parkin and Finley Abrahams soon quite ed them off.

A hat trick from Finley Abrahams, was quickly matched by queensbury, for them to just pip wyke at half time.

The wyke boys started strong again on the second half. Some quick moves from Queensbury let a couple of tries in, but it didn't dampen Wykes spirit. Alfie Barraclough picked up the ball, on the first attempt and scored a full length try, managing to land straight on his face.

This then led to the rest of the Wyke team wanting more of the action with some great drives from Charlie McShera and Bragan Cottom. Lucas Range- Bennett was in fine form again with him and Alfie Barraclough pulling out some bone crunching tackles. Harrison Cain then came out of his shell with some powerful leg drives which proved hard for the Queensbury side to stop.

Queensbury managed to sneak over with a few cheeky tries, which let the final score be in their favour at 11 tries to 7, but it was fair to say it was an enjoyable match to watch by both sides.

We are just hoping for the weather to be as nice when we travel there next week for the return fixture.

Man of the March - Mark Gummery and Alfie Barraclough
