Wyke's under 8's dusted off thier kits bags and made the short trip over to Guiseley to play in the first league match of this season. We went with 14 players-almost a full team, compared to Guiseleys 5 players, so we eneded up making the teams even and plying 9 a side.
It didnt take the boys long to get back into the swing of things. Lots of really good tackling came through. A lot from our yougest player Mark Gummery. Who wasnt put off tackling boys who were a lot bigger than him. Both the top tacklers for Wyke were playing for Guiseley for the day so it was evident that our boys were really strong in going forward.
Some strong running from both Lucas Range-Bennett and Finley Abrahams ended up with tries scored by both of them. The new members of the team didnt shy off and there was some good passes and footwork form both Liam Coates and Bradley Hemingway
The game ended up with a score of 5 tries all, but with 4 of our players playing for Guiseley the try and tackle count was more in Wyke favour than the final score suggests.
The boys really enjoyed getting back into the swing of it this week, our next match is away to Greetland where the coaches are aiming to progress on the great work done so far.
