Wyke under 8’s
Ovenden 40 v 44 Wyke
Wyke Rugby Clubs under 8s travelled away at Ovenden, which turned out to be an evenly matched game with the fixture ending with a 4 point difference. Wyke started well with a nice inside drop off from Joseph Fynn to send Jake Rayner in for the first try of the game after just 2 minutes. Ovenden replied next with a try before Wyke went in front again with a solo effort from Jabriel Karolia followed by a debut try from Cameron Lewis. Ovenden replied with more tries before a try from Aidan Law and a brace from Cameron Lewis brought the half time score to 20 points a-piece.
Wyke were caught napping at the beginning of the second half when Ovenden went over for a well-deserved try. But Wyke picked themselves up and scored 3 tries in quick succession from Jabriel Karolia, Toby Schofield and Reece Broadbent, putting Wyke in front 32-24 only to let Ovenden back in the game to bring the scores even. Wyke took back control with a 2nd try from Reece Broadbent, a hat trick from Cameron Lewis and a further hat trick from Jabriel. Wyke walked away with their heads held high winning by a score of 44-40.
It was a great team performance from the whole team with some good hard running from Dylan Frith, Macaulay Abrahams, Harvey Dimbleby and some great tackling from Riley Firth, Owen Cutler and Sam Howarth.
