Wyke are taking nothing for granted

Wyke entertain Wibsey Warriors at towngate this Saturday in what will be a very competitive match. Although Wyke have already won the league Wibsey will come fully charged to try to take Wyke’s unbeaten run from them. Ian Wormald has a full squad to choose from apart from second row forward Alec Williams who missed the league winning game against Ossett due to a shopping trip at the owlcoates centre in Pudsey and has unfortunately since fallen fowl of a tough game of monopoly whilst on a hyperactive stag doo. Coach Ian Wormald had this to say “This will probably be our toughest game of the season with us securing the league a couple of weeks ago and the fact it’s a local derby, will naturally mean that Wibsey will come to win and we could get complacent. Wibsey’s league position does not tell the whole storey as I believe they are going really well under Kenny Smith who is doing a great job and getting a lot out of a young bunch of lads and adding a couple of older heads into that gives us a real challenge. Taking the emotion out of the local derby it gives me an opportunity to possibly rest a couple of lads and try a few things to see if they work out. All my focus is now on making sure I get the best 17 out in the semi final therefore players are playing for their shirts so I’m hoping that stops any complacency and we can get the job done”. Get down and watch it’s at 14:30 in Wyke Park
