The Academy led by Cameron Scott defeated Crofton 12-10

Crofton kicked the game off and it was Wyke who would have first use of the ball, a good solid first set from Wyke saw them turn the ball over 10m from the tryline. Crofton came at Wyke hard but a good shot from Aaron Preistley and Callum Scott saw Crofton knock on. Both sides would then exchange knocks ons which saw Wyke back in possession. Good drives from Jack Poertus, Marc Goodwin and Barry McShera edged Wyke closer to the line and the impressive Callum Scott would scoot over to make it 4-0 to Wyke, Josh McGuinness added the 2. Again Wyke made their way up the field and the next try came as Danny Worby scored outwide after good work from Jamie this time the kick was missed. Callam Sunter did great to catch the kick off but Wyke would then come up with error, but some good defence from Jonny and Callam forced another error. A great drive from professional shit shoveler Ollie Birkett saw Wyke on the front foot but again they came up with the error, Callum Scott claiming he had broke his big right toe. Some great defence from debutant Seth Whomack followed and Crofton bombed a certaint try thanks to a good tackle from Michael Wormald, Jonny immediately calling back set. Crofton would score 2 quick fire tries though despite some great defence from Conor Laverick and Alex Sunter

Half Time: Wyke 10 - 10 Crofton

Wyke kicked the second half off, and it was Seth again who was getting stuck in his first open age game who defended strong all game. Josh McGuinness showed good hands as he put Jonny who ran a good line through a gap but eventually got brought down. Brett Gray putting in big shots as Wyke took back control of the game. Big drives from Macca, Trigger, Barry and Jack again saw Wyke progress up the field. Seth showed great strength as he tackled the Crofton man which left him winded on the floor. Wyke would then earn a penalty in which Josh McGuinness converted to make it 12-10. A great shot again from Seth and Josh saw the Crofton man come up with error.
