Wyke Zigga Zagga's, Under 7's & Under 8's completed their Mini Ironman Triathlon fund raiser last Sunday

Each of the teams at Wyke had been asked to organise an activity to raise funds to help with the running of the club, Wyke are totally reliant on donations and fundraising so this is an important activity for the club. We considered what we might do to fund raise, the first thing we decided was that it had to be an opportunity for the kids themselves to do something, the second was that it needed to be fun. The answer we decided was a Kids Ironman Triathlon.

The idea was that our three youngest teams, the under 8's, under 7's and Zigga Zagga tots team would complete a series of events. A full lap of the pitch on Scooters (harder than it sounds with those little wheels on grass) another full lap running and finally a full-on assault course. The Assault course included balancing beams, ladders, cargo nets, tackle shield gauntlets, sprints, jumps and other activities finished off with a CRAWL through a paddling pool of water and big old water slide coated in washing up liquid and water.

What we ended up with was a fantastic day of family fun with parents and family members getting involved. Nearly all the kids insisted on doing the course up to four times, dripping wet and covered in foam! We were ably supported by the Bradford Bulls Ladies Team who manned several of the activities and awarded the medals in a ceremony to finish the day off. We don’t know what we have raised yet but I think we are well on track to absolutely smash our £200 target which had been exceeded by almost double before the day even started.

Well done to everyone involved, YES WYKE!
