Wyke Academy defeat Leeds Akkies 28-22 to take the 2 points in the division 4 clash

Some good runs from forwards Jonny Fawthrop, Jordan Myers and Michael Wormald saw Wyke start the game strongly, the first try of the game came as a Sam Kittsen kick was knocked on by the Leeds man which saw Ryan Kershaw score a great acrobatic try in the corner ( only picked the ball up to score nothing special) Michael Wormald off target with the conversion attempt. Wyke came up with an error from kick off which saw Leeds in a dangerous position only for their man to knock on trying to score. A good break from Brad Peel took Wyke close to the line only for the ball to be knocked on, some good defence from Brad Ellis and Callam Sunter followed only for Wyke to be penalised for offside twice. Leeds took full advantage of the poor Wyke discipline as they crossed outwide to level the score at 4-4. Youngster Callum Scott and Jack Poertus were defending strong but Leeds would get another try as Wyke failed to deal with the bouncing ball, leaving the Leeds man with an easy try. The kick was missed in front of the post. Luke Robinson, Oscar and Charles all came on as Wyke tried to get back on top and it worked perfectly as Oscar dived over to make it 8-8 Brad Ellis converting the try. A great break by Lamech followed by good drives by Ryan, Charles and Luke saw Wyke edge closer but they couldnt get over the line. Some good defence from Connor Harris forced Leeds to knock on. Leeds finished the half with 12 men as their player was sin binned for dissent.

A great shot from Jack P and Callum Scott forced Leeds to knock on and Wyke would then score the next try as Alex Sunter scored in the corner to make it 14-8. 3 good drives from Lamech, Connor and Jordan followed but ill discipline from Wyke saw them concede 3 penalties on the bounce. The Leeds man powered his way over to make it 14-14. Some more bad discipline from Wyke followed but Charles and Luke produced a great shot to leave the Leeds man on the floor. Leeds would open Wyke up though as they scored to the left of the post and again the Leeds man missing an easy kick. Wyke would hit back immediately as some great decision making from Callum Scott saw him cross the line for a deserved try. It was now Leeds turn to hit back, some soft defence from Wyke saw Leeds cross to lead 22-20. Luke Robinson was sin binned for retaliation after a Leeds man tried breaking his leg. Wyke didnt let this effect them as the impressive Lamech crossed outwide and a great kick from Brad E saw Wyke lead 26-22. A high tackle from Leeds earned Wyke a penalty which Brad Ellis converted to make it 28-22. Some good work from Callum S, Callam and Alex Sunter + Brad Peel saw the Leeds man forced into touch. The game finished on a low as a cheap shot on 17 year old Lamech saw the Leeds man sin binned.
